Storytelling is more than just entertainment. Oral storytelling saves our history in a tender form that touches hearts and souls. Storytelling draws our hurried, scattered communities closer together. Karen’s stories of her family — stories her grandmother and father shared with her and stories she has lived herself — help the listener focus on the more important things in this life.
You will laugh out loud when you hear Karen tell her stories. You might shake your head in agreement or recollection. You may even shed a tear or two. Storytelling that entertains and underscores the value of family, friendship and community.

- You sent chills up and down my spine. I was there. I heard the voices. I saw the characters and their expressions.
- You have a warm, inviting tone and presence that makes people want to listen to you.
Karen retells stories her dad has told her about his youth in the 1930s and 1940s in the rural hills of Tennessee. Some of the stories might be considered tall tales. But, Karen tells them like her dad did. Some of the tales include: “B.L. and Milt’s First Hunting Trip” and “The Queen of Luther Hollar”.
